S-1 General Information Book 1924
From PigBoats.COM
Notes
Researcher Jacob Gunnarson was doing research at the National Archives and he came across this General Information Book for the USS S-1 (SS-105), dated September 1924. This was during the time that S-1 was carrying out tests with launching and recovering a float plane. It is complete through page 6, but at that point Jacob skipped to pages 36 and 37 as they described the aircraft hangar that had been installed on S-1's aft deck.
The book is a very interesting look into the specifics of the Electric Boat design for the S-class submarines, but note that some data will be specific to S-1, as she was the only boat modified to have an aircraft hangar.
These documents are declassified (authority: NND 974382).
