Another photo of Sargo on trials in Cape Cod Bay of PRovincetown, MA., November 1, 1938. It would be three more months before she was commissioned. The stepped appearance of her periscope shears indicates that she has one 34-foot periscope (#1) and one 40-foot periscope (#2)

A view of Sargo's bow taken from her bridge, 1939-1940. There is still a profusion of wires and masts on the forward deck. Improved technology and the urgency of war would eliminate much of this by 1943. There is a crew member on the deck just forward of the square hole on the walking deck. The unusual color of the deck is likely an exposure or photographic development issue. The deck was never painted white.

Another view of Sargo's bow as she digs into a wave, 1939-1940. The photo was likely taken by the same photographer at nearly the same time as the one above.

Sargo at rest in San Pablo Bay at the conclusion of a major overhaul at Mare Island, summer of 1944. She would make one more war patrol before being reassigned to training duties.

U.S. Navy photo.
