<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color:#00008B">This set of plans shows the Bass in her 1943 configuration after her conversion to a cargo carrier. Her torpedo rooms and the aft engine room have been completely reconfigured as cargo spaces. Her aft pair of direct drive Busch-Sulzer 6M375 diesels were removed because they were maintenance nightmares. They were not considered a loss. Propulsion fell solely to the two Busch-Sulzer generator engines in the forward engine room.


This concept was nearly a complete failure and Bass never made an operational patrol in the Pacific war zone in this role.

Notes

This set of plans shows the Bass in her 1943 configuration after her conversion to a cargo carrier. Her torpedo rooms and the aft engine room have been completely reconfigured as cargo spaces.
