The list at the link below was compiled over a period of time by searching through the society pages of newspapers across the country. Military officers in the pigboat era were considered to fall into the social elite, as oftentimes they came from prominent families. Their movements from command to command, their marriages, and even their deaths were reported in the social columns.

The Honolulu Harbor Lighthouse on Sand Island was an omnipresent fixture of maritime life around Oahu for 24 years. Many sailors, both U.S. Navy and civilian mariners, became very familiar with the light. The page at the link below provides a photographic journey of the lighthouse from 1910 to 1934.
