William Henry Delamain lost his life along with three others when the submarine H-1 (SS-28) grounded off Santa Margarita Island, Mexico March 12, 1920. He was washed overboard and drowned.

At the end of WW I the US received four German submarines to examine. UB-88 was one of those.
