Notes
This set of plans shows the Bass in her 1943 configuration after her conversion to a cargo carrier. Her torpedo rooms and the aft engine room have been completely reconfigured as cargo spaces. Her aft pair of direct drive Busch-Sulzer 6M375 diesels were removed because they suffered from severe reliability issues. They were not considered a loss. Propulsion fell solely to the two Busch-Sulzer generator engines in the forward engine room.
This concept was nearly a complete failure and Bass never made an operational patrol in the Pacific war zone in this role.
