Football Pearl Harbor 1920

In honor of the 2013, 114th Army-Navy Football Game, just played where Navy beat Army 34 to 7 we are posting a photo taken at a football game at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii taken in 1920. The arrow is pointing out Raymond Suess, SN/1c who was a sailor aboard the Submarine R-14. It isn't known if this was an inter-boat game or a base team. There are several men in either Army of Marine Corp uniforms seen in the background. The stripe on the ground in indicating the 40 Yard Line.

This football field, in 1920, sat on the present location of the Submarine Barracks.

PigBoats was fortunate to come into a collection of photos from the son of of a sailor tha thad served aboard the USS R-14 in the early 1920's. This photo was in that collection.
